The city of Iloilo is well-known for its extensive past and culture, which has led to the preservation of a number of old historical sites dating back to the Spanish colonial period. These sites include the Miag-ao Church, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Philippines, and the San Joaquin Campo Santo, San Joaquin Church and the Santa Barbara Church.
The Islas de Gigantes are comprised of four islands: Cabugao Island, Antonia Island, the Bantigue Sand Bar, and the Tangke Lagoon. The Islas de Gigantes is located in the northern section of Iloilo, which is known for its beaches with white sand and waters that are incredibly clean.
Sicogon Island is a tourist island destination in Iloilo that is slowly regaining its appeal after having its development come to a halt in 1970s.

It takes around one and a half hours to reach Iloilo from Bacolod and only fifteen minutes to reach Guimaras when traveling by direct ferry. Boracay is around 4–5 hours away by land travel from Iloilo, while Kalibo is approximately 3 hours away, and Roxas City is approximately 2 hours away.
